  • Dialogs: Witty, funny, stupid.
  • Characters: Simple, but very funny. Lots of crazy people.

The Oranges — A tangle of lives with a big mess and some fun — 7*/10

  • Story: The lives and the storylines of two family get incredibly entangled. Very funny with just a bit of pretty tame drama.
  • Setting: As usual, too posh compared to the average viewer.
  • Ending: Too neat and pretty bland, but acceptable. It could have been worst. It could also have been easily better if it had followed a realistic approach.
  • Dialogs: Funny.
  • Characters: Very interesting.
  • Acting: Better than good overall. Simple roles, though.
  • Known actors: Catherine Keener, Allison Janney, Oliver Platt, Hugh Laurie, Alia Shawkat and Leighton Meester.
  • Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1313139/

  • Who is it for? Those looking for something funny, with extremely light family drama.

Krampus — A dark side to Christmas can also easily entertain — 7*/10

  • Scenario: Yes it's somewhat silly and the characters are exaggerated in the intro as any Hollywood movie is prone to do, but there's a nice kind of humour to this darker tale of Christmas. You'll cross path with some bits of horror and drama. You'll visit action and one liners. However, I assure you, you'll be entertained to a nicely warm degree. I love the ending!
  • Known actors: Adam Scott, Toni Collette and David Koechner.
  • Visual & sound: Pretty good. Very nice visual style.
  • Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3850590/
  • Who is it for? Those looking for a different kind of Holliday movie and who don't mind a bit of darkness.

The Night Before — Cool easy and funny silly comedy — 6*/10

  • Scenario: It's funny, just as the trailer suggested, lots of silly things in the air and some interesting ideas. Unfortunately, it doesn't always keep our attention, it sorts of wanes and waxes. That being said, it's still a cool film and easy laughter material.
  • Known actors: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anthony Mackie, Jillian Bell, Lizzy Caplan, Michael Shannon, Tracy Morgan, James Franco and Miley Cyrus.
  • Visual & sound: Nice.
  • Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3530002/
  • Who is it for? Anyone looking to turn their brain off with a nice slightly silly Christmas comedy.

Arthur Christmas — What you should watch with your kids this Holiday — 8*/10

Arthur Christmas is a bundle of fun. Sharp graphics, tight action, silliness aplenty, well developed characters, nice dialogs, interesting plot line, fast paced scenario, and, not to forget, a great explanation on how Santa does it all.

For some Holiday fun.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas — An adorable depiction of a classic tale — 7*/10

How the Grinch Stole Christmas offers us a great performance by Jim Carrey. The story is goofy and well portrayed. The kids will love it and the adults will find it funny. The sentiments and morals are painted wide and difficult to miss, while some moments are touching, and others are totally silly. Overall it's great entertainment, just don't expect something delicate.

To put a smile on your face.

Fred Claus — A slapstick Christmas comedy for all — 6*/10

Fred Claus is funny in a very goofy way and its story is very predictable. However, it can be touching and it has its moments. Paul Giamatti and Kevin Spacey both deliver a solid performance, especially considering the type of movie. Overall, it's a good Holiday flick, just beware the end, it is extremely sirupy, and the Brother Anonymous scene, it is really awkward.

Only if you're ready for the antics of Vince Vaughn.

Miracle on 34th Street — You should definitively see it for Christmas — 6*/10

Miracle on 34th Street is a good modern version of the original. It's funny, light, touching and easily defends the myth without ruining it. It might not be a masterpiece, but it's nice entertainment.

For Holiday cheers.

Christmas with the Kranks - Goofy holiday cheers for all - 7*/10

Christmas with the Kranks is just what you need when you want a good laugh during the Holidays. This piece doesn't take itself seriously and you should do the same. Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis are just perfect for their role in this non stop scenario.

Relax and enjoy.

A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas - What you would expect - 6*/10

A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas is on par with the others of the series. Better than the second, not as good as the first, but with all the silliness and Christmas trimming we expect. Just don't think you're going to watch something mature and you might enjoy it.

For the fans of the series and those enjoying juvenile or drug humor.

Bad Santa - Bad language, heavy sarcasm: hilarious! - 7*/10

Bad Santa is, to say the least, irreverent. It's funny, not for kids, and very enjoyable. I never thought I'd have this much pleasure watching this trashy flick.

I dare you to see it.
7*/10

The Fitzgerald Family Christmas - Too real for holiday cheers - 6*/10

The Fitzgerald Family Christmas is not the kind of movie you want to cheer you during the Holidays. It's well made to the point that it's just a bit too stark. It's entertaining, but be ready for some family drama.

Not for everyone.

The Family Stone — Hectic Christmas cheers with a very opinionated family — 8*/10

The Family Stone is a strangely entertaining Christmas movie. Funny dialogs and situations, some drama, a bit of romance, and you have a good evening.

Sarah Jessica Parker is just perfect as this neurotic obsessive control freak who meets the family of her boyfriend for the firs time. You'll love to hate her, you'll laugh at her antics, and pity her for what she's going through. It's not all about her though, we get to know the whole family and spend a very hectic holiday with them.

The story is extremely engrossing, and each scene is delight. Lots of discussions, many arguments, and a good number of diverging opinions are the main staples of the scenario. Add to that, heart felt sentiments, some awkwardness, opinionated statements and a touch of tragedy, and you get a pretty satisfying package.

The only thing I really have to say something negative about would be the chase scene around the house. A bit over done for adults.

I recommend seeing it to those who are looking for nice Christmas film.

Love Actually — Watch different kinds of love all inter weaved — 10*/10

Love Actually is a clever tapestry of different kinds of love, each somehow related to one another, yet independent. That kind of weaving is an art. Too disparate and the piece looses cohesion. Too tight and you can't differentiate the threads. In this particular case, it is done right.

Each story is interesting and present us with various facets of love. They are all sweet, but sometimes sad, and a few times funny. You get easily attached to all the characters who are all very well acted in this star studded cast and rendered with depth and subtle emotions.

It's difficult not to fall in love with these wonderful stories, and there are virtually no flaws in this film, especially when it comes to the scenario, editing, and photography.

The only things that might distract you from seeing it is if you need action to watch a movie, if you can only watch a movie set around Christmas time during December, or if such kind of life weaving doesn't interest you.

Otherwise, it's a must see.

Elf — A goofy holiday comedy to bring you cheer — 7*/10

Elf has an interesting premise: a human baby raised by North Pole elves and Santa Claus. The goofy twist to the story fits perfectly with Will Ferrell's acting style. He is just silly enough in a straight and earnest way to make you believe the whole rigamarole.

Every new development in the scenario gives the opportunity for more laughters, and the presentation of new aspects of the elf society.

The acting, editing, and special effects are simple and well crafted, nothing to detract from enjoying the spectacle.

It's a great recommendation if you're looking for Christmas related entertainment.

Four Christmases — Funny comedy with an interesting idea — 6*/10

Four Christmases is funny, but a certain number of flaws make it less appealing to me.

First off, Vince Vaughn uses some of the same tricks he did in Wedding Crashers, but at least he's toned down a bit. For the most part, though, the acting is good, if purposefully over caricatured, even Vince. Reese Witherspoon is obviously leading the pack. Robert Duval is not far behind: you just love to hate his character.

Second, the scenario gives us two characters with out of the box ideas at the start, but we loose them by the end. Well, not completely, however, it's enough to put a damper on my appreciation.

Lastly, there are some illogical sequences of event in the story, especially at the start.

Despite all that, it's still funny, and the premises are quite original. If they could only have continue in the same vein, the final product would have been great.

If you wanna a see a positive Christmas story with an interesting setup that requires very little thinking, I think you should go for it.
