Sing — Great animation film fun for all — 8*/10

It's easy to love this flick. As adults, there are a myriad of great little jokes and some awesome music. It's even touching. As a kid, it's full of silly stuff and bright colors, although some might shed a tear or two. No worries, though, it's very positive. A must for the family.

Eddie the Eagle — Funny, light yet inspiring kind of biography — 8*/10

• Story: A bunch of laughs with a touching moment. Interesting and easy to watch.
• Style: Funny, even a bit silly for a biographical flick. It's a very light bio, yet inspiring at the same time.
• Characters: Easy to get attached to, some probably not that close to reality, but with an overall sense of destiny.

The Bucket List — It's a solid touching sentimental film with a few flaws — 7*/10

• Scenario: There's nothing particularly innovative about this movie and, a little bit past half way through it, it even gets predictable and somewhat downright boring. However, the secret is in the superb acting, as well as the details contained in the first half and, to a lesser extent, the ending.
• Known actors: Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman and Sean Hayes.
• Visual & sound: Good, however all the CG work to make the scenes look even more special are really annoying. I've seen the pyramids, the site is not that pristine, you can't climb them, it's full of tourist all the time, and that's just one scene.

• Who is it for? Those wanting to shed a few tears in an uplifting kind of way and any Nicholson or Freeman fans.

Moonrise Kingdom — A starkly sweet story for those in need of nourishment — 10*/10

• Story: Told in an incredibly unique and stark caricatural style that feels almost surreal, it is sweet and interesting, if plain at first. That being said, by the end, it is completely engrossing, culminating with an epic scene.
• Characters: Captivating traits, each role nicely intertwined with the others. 
• Dialogs: Simple, short, to the point and perfect.
• Scenario: Excellent pacing. Takes you slowly from peaceable to, nearly, action packed.
• Actors: Great work on the part of everyone. A surprisingly star studded cast. Its notable members are Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, Bob Balaban, and Harvey Keitel.
• Photography: Pretty with invigorating camera work.
• Special effects: Well done.

Annie — A freakishly underrated musical that anybody can enjoy — 7*/10

• Story: Uplifting, catchy, interesting, easy, pretty rosy.
• Characters: Lovable.
• Dialogs: Acceptable.
• Scenario: Not too much singing and placed well enough that even somebody like me who doesn't like musical could appreciate the flick.
• Actors: Quvenzhané Wallis is solid in the main role. Cameron Diazi is interesting as the mean foster mom. Jamie Foxx gives us a good performance, from the heart. Loved Rose Byrne.
• Photography: Nice.
• Special effects: None visible.

• Who is it for? For the whole family, even those who normally do not like musicals. Those who don't like rosy movies should abstain.

Best Man Down — An everyday mystery with ups and downs — 8*/10

Best Man Down is not your average wedding story. It's actually closer to a family drama mixed in with a drug story. You'll get drawn in by the events and the characters. Even though it feels simple, the little intrigue is still captivating. At times it's sad, and at others, it's uplifting. The acting is great. The ending is just right. The drama is not overdone.

For those who don't mind a bit of sadness.

Here Comes the Boom — A great spectacle for those who like a good mix bag — 8*/10

Here Comes the Boom is highly underrated. It's a mixed story of underdog and Cinderella as well as a great modern tribute to Rocky. Nice acting, lots of action, plenty of laughs and very interesting dialogs. There are some predictable plot elements, but each one of them is underlined with a certain whimsy. There's also a few fakes that show, however, it definitively doesn't take itself seriously.

For a good time and some good action.

When the Game Stands Tall — A great story and an inspiration if you don't mind a few dertails — 7*/10

When the Game Stands Tall is a solid inspirational football movie. The strength of the scenario is the story itself. However, in his retelling of the story, the director seemed to push emotions on us a bit, it feels buffed and shiny. Also, religion plays a certain part in it, so it can be somewhat of a turn off to those of us, like me, who are atheist.

For football and real story fans.

Chef — Emotionally rich and very funny little comedy about something simple — 9*/10

Chef is funny, very funny. It's different, touching, interesting, nicely put together, with great acting and excellent dialogs. I'd say that the only negative points are the slightly rosy ending, although they did skip the sentimental dialogs so it's not so bad (I would have skip the whole thing after he calls back his son), and the overuse of Twitter, which in ten years will look a little weird.

For everyone, except action addicts.

The Way Way Back — Have a laugh, a tear, and some frustrations — 8*/10

The Way Way Back is a coming of age movie. It has some very sweet moments, some fairly embarrassing ones, lots of funny ones, rough ones, and enough drama to make it a realistic teen or reconstituted family life. The story will tug at everyone, especially those who have lived through divorce and step parents. The end is very solid, with no crazy stuff, just a little bit of self affirmation.

You just want to strangle Steve Carell, and Liam James truly is great as the hero of the tale, but my smile unsurprisingly goes to Sam Rockwell.

It's not spectacular or life quacking, but I highly recommend it.
