Un petit film fort intéressant avec un scénario aux développements parfois inattendus. À prendre à la légère un soir de pluie.

I've decided to simply go for a score without any review. Maybe I'll start again doing full reviews someday.

Monster Trucks — Nice little sci-fi for the whole family — 6*/10
Funny, light, entertaining and better than expected. Still, it's a bit more for the children. I liked the creature design, but that pink stuff, really? Great ideas, just too young.
Danny Glover (small role).

Back to the Future — A still enjoyable classic that marked a generation — 8*/10
- Overall: Fun, full of great details, funky sci-fi and a captivating story.
- Who is it for? Anyone who doesn't looking back.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088763/
- Known actors: Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd and Crispin Glover.
- Style: A cool underdog adventure where sci-fi and time traveling play a background role to entertainment even though they're the main subjects.
- Pacing: Quick.
- Intro: Standard setup of places, characters and events.
- Story: A great adventure that has little moral value and a lot of exciting things happening. You can't help but be pulled in.
- Ending: Easy.
- Epilogue: The consequence of fudging with the past explained with a setup for the next chapter.
- Dialogs: Quick, fun, slick. Some are showing age a bit while still sounding good.
- Characters: This is a character-driven story, it's all about them, their quirks, motivations and actions, but they're stereotyped. Few of them have any depths, but they are all very interesting and well portrayed.
- Acting: Very good.
- Visuals: Great attention to details.
- Special Effects: Very few and only one showing its age.
- Costumes: A bit on the clean side, but that's 1985 for you.
- Music: Very entertaining.
- Score: Extremely lively and well set.
- Afterthoughts: 30 years later and I still enjoyed watching it. It might have lost some of its luster, we don't do things the same way anymore, but it still shines.

- Cameos: Carmen Electra.
- Setting: Average high school, well-off families.

- Characters: Simple.
- Acting: Some are pretty good, others are just adequate.
- Visuals: Getting a bit old, but not enough to stop anyone from enjoying it.

40 Days and 40 Nights — Pretty funny standard romantic comedy — 6*/10
- Overall: Everything about sex and relationship in there is bullshit, but the situations are pretty funny.
- Who is it for? Those who are used to the standard model of relationship and want to laugh.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0243736/
- Known actors: Josh Hartnett.
- Cameos: Stanley Anderson.
- Setting: Too hip, too posh, too many hot girls.
- Style: Romantic comedy with silly juvenile stuff and impossible situations.
- Intro: Nice. Really puts you into context.
- Story: In that stupid cookie cutter way, it all makes sense and is pretty interesting, because you're always wondering what's going to happen next and how it is going to end.
- Ending: Nice twist with a predictable final.
- Dialogs: Interesting. Witty at times. Easy.
- Characters: Shallow, but not too stereotypical.
- Acting: Good. Even great for the main ones.
- Visuals: Nice.

Mother's Day — A glitzy fluff piece that falls short of the on screen talent — 6*/10
- Story: Nothing interesting, just more of the usual plus all the old ideas about marriage and kids imposed by society rehashed in a disappointing gruel. There was a few hilarity, though.
- Setting: Upper class. Just a lot of glitters to make the average viewer continue to dream the American dream.
- Style: Fluffy.
- Ending: Somewhat redeeming. The last third at least tries to do something with that disappointing mess.
- Dialogs: Inadequate, sometimes funny.
- Characters: Unidimensional. They threw in a gay couple, an Indian and a dead soldier to add diversity. That's weak.
- Acting: Meh, for the most part. The best ones were Aniston, Hudson and Sudeikis.
- Known actors: Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Jason Sudeikis, Timothy Olyphant, Hector Elizondo and Julia Roberts.
- Cameos: Larry Miller and Jennifer Garner.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4824302/
- Entertainment value: Very much average.
- Who is it for? Those looking for a light fluff piece.

Someone Like You... — A standard romantic comedy that's easy to watch — 6*/10
- Story: It's your basic romantic comedy with the same concepts of how love should be that most of its brethren panders to. That being said, the theory within the story as well as the diverse twists and turns do make it interesting.
- Setting: The usual: apartments in New York City that few people can afford or live in.
- Style: Funny and light
- Ending: Way too predictable.
- Characters: Simple.
- Acting: Pretty good. It's one aspect that makes this flick special.
- Known actors: Ashley Judd, Marisa Tomei, Hugh Jackman and Greg Kinnear.
- Visuals: Slick, as usual.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0244970/
- Entertainment value: Nice.
- Who is it for? Those who don't mind seeing another standard romantic comedy and any Judd, Tomei or Jackman fan.

Eddie the Eagle — Funny, light yet inspiring kind of biography — 8*/10
- Story: A bunch of laughs with a touching moment. Interesting and easy to watch.
- Style: Funny, even a bit silly for a biographical flick. It's a very light bio, yet inspiring at the same time.
- Characters: Easy to get attached to, some probably not that close to reality, but with an overall sense of destiny.
- Acting: Very good.
- Known actors: Hugh Jackman, Jim Broadbent and Christopher Walken.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1083452/
- Entertainment value: Very nice.
- Who is it for? Anyone looking for a good laugh in a silly way or those looking for a different kind of biography.

Deadpool — Fucking hilarious hero flick and powerful entertainment — 8*/10
- Story: A straight forward origin story with tons of wink to the hero genre. Lots of action and humour. I loved the rough rider romance until they got the bad news. Then, it changed too abruptly for my taste. More over, his investigation is just a series of repetition, although the change of costume is interesting. That being said, what's not to love about the rest?
- Style: Achronological with a humorous self-satirical narration by the main onscreen character directed straight at the viewer breaking the usual barrier between a movie and its audience. You gotta like the style, but even if you don't, it's funny as hell.
- Pacing: Fast with a few breaks that are still intense.
- Ending: Predictable, but the jokes helped.
- Dialogs: Extremely funny and very witty. Totally perfect.
- Characters: Simple, even as super heroes go.
- Acting: Great performance by the main characters. The others... meh.
- Known actors: Ryan Reynolds (excellent as the witty Deadpool), Morena Baccarin (she's just awesome!) and T.J. Miller.
- Special Effects: Not perfect, but still great.
- Music: Excellent choices, usually very funny ones.
- Score: Awesome, you're right in the action.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1431045/
- Entertainment value: Very, very high.
- Who is it for? Any one looking for action or fun and super hero fans.

Valentine's Day — Sweet light and easy to watch romantic comedy — 6*/10
- Scenario: Well, sometimes the story lines are a bit rushed, they feel a bit empty and the whole production is pretty fluffy. However, there are no big problems with it, it is well acted and interesting with a nice pace. You'll easily get attached to the characters as well as the overall positive mood. Often the quality of a movie is define by its watchability, so it means that you'll find here a good entertainment value even if it isn't, by any stretch of the imagination, a masterpiece.
- Known actors: Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Garner, Ashton Kutcher, Bradley Cooper, Topher Grace, Queen Latifah, Kathy Bates, Julia Roberts, Hector Elizondo, Jamie Foxx, Patrick Dempsey and Taylor Lautner.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0817230/
- Who is it for? Those looking for something light and sweet without any annoying flaw.

The Holiday — A well done, sweet, light and funny romantic comedy — 8*/10
- Scenario: Sweet and funny, this little romantic piece relies on the quality of the actors and the incredibly perfect settings the evolve in. The story is simple, yet compelling. The scenario doesn't innovate but has a few nice surprises. Light and very entertaining.
- Known actors: Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Jack Black and Rufus Sewell.
- Visual & sound: Beautiful, in a too perfect way.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457939/
- Who is it for? Anyone looking for a light romantic comedy that's well done.

The Intern — Funny light comedy that's easy to watch — 7*/10
- Scenario: Interesting and novel perspective, but I think his pre-internship life was a bit too perfect, which is often the case with Hollywood stories, and that there's a few lines of dialogs in her romantic life that are too cliché, especially toward the end. That being said, it's a lot of fun. Good acting and many laughs.
- Known actors: Anne Hathaway, Robert De Niro and Rene Russo.
- Visual & sound: Very slick, maybe even too much. The decors are unaffordable for any average New York citizen.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2361509/
- Who is it for? Anyone looking for something light and funny that's a bit different than the usual but comfortably close to Hollywood's cookie cutter standards.

Nailed! — Not bad but a little weak — 5*/10
- Scenario: Not a bad starting idea, but the story has weak plot elements and jokes. The entertainment value is still there because of the quality performance of the cast, but not for any other reason.
- Known actors: Jessica Biel, Jake Gyllenhaal, James Marsden, Catherine Keener, Kurt Fuller, Tracy Morgan, Olivia Crocicchia, Paul Reubens, Kirstie Alley, Bill Hader and James Brolin.
- Visual & sound: Decent.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1137470/
- Who is it for? For those with a slow night wanting something light and funny with great actors.

Irrational Man — A Woody Allen flick well worth the watch — 8*/10
- Scenario: Very interesting story with an unusual linchpin, but with the usual characters. Well told, spirited and inventive, it has the bad habit of of giving a tad too much information in the form of multiple narrators. Not one of the best Woody Allen, but definitively a good one and worth the watch.
- Known actors: Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone.
- Visual & sound: Solid.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3715320/
- Who is it for? Anyone looking for something different with a slight interest in the existential or any Allen fan.

Home — A great animation flick that anyone should see for a lot of fun — 8*/10
- Scenario: Lots of details, novel ideas as well as an incredibly well thought out world. However, it is a tad predictable with no innovation in terms of story flow. They didn't even capitalize on a dramatic event, I guess to keep the children from crying. That being said, it's still extremely entertaining.
- Dialogs: Very funny and plentiful.
- Characters: The two main characters are well developed, but the rest are rather simple.
- Actors: Good voice acting on the part of everyone. I don't normally like Jim Parsons, but he completely fit the bill and made the role come alive. Cast members include Rihanna, Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez.
- Sound: Amazingly nice music and score.
- Special effects: Beautiful as well as bountiful colors and great animation.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2224026/
- Who is it for? Anyone looking for a good animation movie, adults and children alike.

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen — An easy witty romance to be discovered — 8*/10
- Story: Love the details. Very captivating. Excellent overall. However, it falls flat from the moment they open the sluice. After that, it seems creativity went out the window.
- Characters: Nice, with plenty of details for the most part.
- Dialogs: Great with pleasant structure, wit and repartee.
- Scenario: Nicely split up between the different parts.
- Actors: Great work on the British side. The Yemenite side wasn't as strong, but probably just because the movie was aimed at occidentals so they didn't pay as much attention to the "foreign" roles. Cast members include Ewan McGregor, who was great in this very low key role, Emily Blunt and Kristin Scott Thomas.
- Photography: Pretty.
- Sound: Nice music and score.
- Special effects: None visible.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1441952/
- Who is it for? Those looking for a romantic movie that doesn't look too much like one.

She's the Man — Very light romantic comedy for easy entertainment — 6*/10
- Story: It's your basic identity switch romantic comedy with multiple love triangles. There's absolutely no deviations from the standard. Funny is its main thing as well as has some strong female roles.
- Characters: Simple.
- Dialogs: Simple and at times a little forced.
- Scenario: Nice pacing.
- Actors: Channing Tatum really makes this flick. He's the best actor by a long shot. The others are acceptable. The better ones include Amanda Bynes, which is not that believable as a soccer player or a guy, and David Cross who does his little thing.
- Photography: Acceptable.
- Sound: Acceptable music and score.
- Special effects: None.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0454945/
- Who is it for? Those looking for a simple romantic comedy and have some time to waste, or for Tatum fans.

The DUFF — One of the better high school teen movie done recently — 7*/10
- Story: Even though it possesses all the trappings of a standard high school teen comedy, it does strive to bring a few new twists to the genre. It's nothing grossly surprising, but it shows the writers wanted to make it interesting. Nice ending. It's rosy, but well made.
- Characters: Simple and funny.
- Dialogs: Mostly funny and interesting.
- Scenario: Well built, nice pace with good switches in tone and speed.
- Actors: Acceptable work, if poor in a few rare cases. The notable cast members are Allison Janney, Ken Jeong and Romany Malco.
- Photography: Nice.
- Sound: Good music, nice score.
- Special effects: None.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1666801/
- Who is it for? If you need to see something very light, but still interesting, or you're a fan of teen flicks.
