The Gunman — Too much of a mishmash to be any more than an action flick — 7*/10

• Scenario: Is it an assassin/spy flick, an intrigue, is it about global politics, revenge, or even romance? That's the basic problem of this film, it doesn't have a definite identity. There's a lot of action, but also enough slow scenes to give a different vibe, yet not so much as to get a good dark mood or some solid psychological intensity. It's entertaining, though.
• Dialogs: Pretty good.
• Characters: Shallow for the most part. I really hated Felix, a total asshole.
• Actors: Good work, especially for Sean Penn, who's really cut, and Javier Bardem.
• Photography: Nice
• Sound: Good music and score.
• Special effects: Good.
