- Overall: Even if the CGIs are a bit old, it still holds good and the story is full of adventure that easily transports the audience.
- Who is it for? Anyone who loves dinosaurs and wants to see the original, which is still the best of the franchise.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107290/
- Known actors: Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Samuel L. Jackson and Wayne Knight.
- Cameos:
- Setting: 1993, a remote South American island.
- Style: A modern adventure sci-fi for the whole family.
- Pacing: Nice smooth rides made of a mix of action and character moments.
- Intro: Great. Starts in the thick of it without revealing anything, then calms down to build up to the real action.
- Story: It's the kind of adventure any kid would wish for and the kind of danger any sane person would want to avoid. Some humor, tons of action, many tense moments, nice character interactions and a lot of science.
- Ending: Solid.
- Dialogs: Very interesting, even captivating, funny at times.
- Characters: Extremely well built, archetypical stuff, except for the lawyer and even then, there's something to appreciate. The only weak one is the head of security, rather simple.
- Acting: Solid, even excellent for some, except the head of security.
- Special Effects: Were astounding, but still quite good.
- Score: Superb work by the great master, John Williams.
- Afterthoughts: In 1993, I had been completely blown away, as was anyone else who saw it. State-of-the-art computer graphics that felt totally real to us, because we only had animatronics before. Also, there was great scientific pains taken to make them as realistic as possible in every way.
Now, 23 years later, anyone new to the movie wouldn't feel the magic, because its computer graphics do not equal those we have today, but the story, characters and adventure still feel great.
I've decided to simply go for a score without any review. Maybe I'll start again doing full reviews someday.

Dave - An easy movie to watch - 7*/10
Dave is an highly improbable story, but it is heartfelt and very entertaining. You will not be bored watching this flick and you'll smile all the while. It is simple straightforward, yet with a number of nice surprises. The acting is solid, no exaggeration or caricature, just nice performances.

The Fugitive — A riveting chase with action and intrigue — 8*/10
The Fugitive has its plot pulled out of an 80s TV show with credible success. I don't know if the fans of the original series liked it, but I did.
The good. Captivating story. Well built scenario and characters resulting in a nice intrigue. Gripping pace that won't let you down and give you only a few pauses. Solid action and acting.
The actors. Commendable work by Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones.
The bad. Lee Jones' character and actions as well as his whole work structure are a bit over the top.
The ugly. Nothing.
The result. If you like intrigue, Ford, Lee Jones, or a story about a guy trying to clear his name, it's definitely for you. If you like action, you'll also find your entertainment. There's even a bit of romance and a cap on the violence so the ladies might find their own too.

Tombstone — Gunslinging with a good flair for action — 8*/10
Tombstone tells a tale that's been told over and over again, but manages to make it interesting.
The good. Well done decor and costumes. Nice photography. Plenty of shootout. Interesting story.
The actors. Kurt Russell did a credible job as Wyatt Earp, but it's probably the extent of his capabilities as you can see his limitations from time to time. Val Kilmer is absolutely excellent as his cultured, but edgy friend, Doc Holliday. Sam Elliott and Bill Paxton both give nice performances as his brothers.
The bad. The river scene is of poor quality, Russell overdoing it by a fair margin, probably under the direction of the director. There are a few scenes where he's not at his best, but that one is the worst.
The ugly. Nothing.
The result. Excellent western action entertainment. Recommended to those who like the genre and the fans of Russell or Kilmer.

Demolition Man — In a not so distant future the world is a better place... or is it? — 8*/10
Demolition Man imagined a future based on the 1992 Los Angeles riots getting worse, and how society would have degenerated from there. This lead to a quite interesting setting, with very imaginative ideas. It also brings forward a subjects that is still current: freedom versus security.
The movie has a ton of action, opening big, lots of laugh, way too many easy quip from the protagonists, and an interesting story. The theme song is quite catchy. The costumes are well thought out, just like the architecture and the vehicle designs.
Sandra Bullock sparkles with innocence, is beautiful, and extremely funny, probably the funniest of the cast. That film really introduced her to the big screen before making her splash in Speed.
It's one of my favorite role for Sylvester Stallone. I like it when he doesn't play something too serious and yet kicks ass. Wesley Snipes has played better, but still, he's funny, and really gives us a nice run for our money.
This is an excellent light action flick, you won't be disappointed.

Groundhog Day — A deceptively sweet comedy packed with details and some romance — 10*/10
Groundhog Day is one of my very favorite movie. I watch it on a regular basis because it is packed with details. It's easy to appreciate right away, but its richness takes a while to seep into you because of the subtle way it's presented to you. Only a year ago I finally understood the depth of the evolution of the main character.
It's funny, the laughs are numerous and the humor contagious. The romance is key, but almost secondary. The cameraman and the insurance salesman are the only characters that really tick me off, but they still fit well within the whole movie and do not detract you from appreciating this little marvel.
The dialogs, which are Bill Murray's strong suite, are excellent. The scenario is without flaw, none whatsoever.
It's a must see movie, even if it's a family movie.
Enjoy!
