Justice League - 7*/10

Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Diane Lane and J.K. Simmons.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie — Good but disappointing — 6*/10

To my taste, it contains too many real elements, or I should say some elements from the real world are too present onscreen. I think it breaks the mood. Plus, there are too many long speeches.

That being said, I think it's funny and entertaining.

Jackie Chan, Dave Franco, Fred Armisen and Michael Peña.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle — Good, but not as good as the first one — 7*/10

Although several of the ideas that make this new chapter are good, some aren't and the novelty has worn off. The first one (read my review here) was a little bit more fleshed out and surprising. This one is just flashy. Still, it's good entertainment.

Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, Elton John and Jeff Bridges.

Despicable Me 3 — Pretty funny, better than the second one — 7*/10

Funny, hilarious at time, with lots of great details and many throwbacks to the 80s, it's definitely a better sequel to the original (read my review here) than the second one. If you like that universe, it's a no-brainer.

Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig.

The Dark Tower — A very entertaining mix of sci-fi and fantasy — 7*/10

I liked it. It's not great, it feels like it didn't fulfill its potential, but it has many things that are interesting. The background ideas, the worlds themselves and the characters are captivating. The story is nice if simple. The action is well done, the special effects solid, and there are a few bold choices not to be dismissed.

Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets — Astoundingly beautiful and exciting sci-fi — 10*/10

I'll only denounce the "love is stronger than everything" and monogamy ideas. Beyond that it's perfect. Amazing intrigue, action, story... It's just mind-blowing. One of the best 3D I've ever seen, but not necessary. A masterpiece by Luc Besson.

Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, Rihanna, Clive Owen, Ethan Hawke, Rutger Hauer and John Goodman.

Spider-Man: Homecoming — A solid reboot of the franchise — 8*/10

The whole Happy-Stark-Parker thing is a bit annoying. The story is pretty involved with lots of stuff happening, but low-key for a superhero flick, at least we didn't go through the origin once more. Good action and special effects if, again, low-key. Overall, nice feeling to it and solid entertainment, one of the good Spider-Man. Watch out for those scenes during the end credits and after.

At first, I wasn't happy about the choice of actor for Spidey when I found out in the Avengers, but now I think he's great, perfect even. The perfect balance of humble, witty and courageous. Loved the choice of aunt May. Nice change there.

One very bad thing, though: no spider sense at all!

Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr.,

Transformers: The Last Knight — On the level with the rest — 6*/10

If you want to see the Transformers, you'll be served. Michael Bay kept it on the level. However, I don't like it when the rewrite "history" and make it all about the Transformers. It's even worst when they rewrite the movie history. That being said, it's fun and entertaining.

Mark Wahlberg, Laura Haddock, Anthony Hopkins, Josh Duhamel, Stanley Tucci and John Turturro.

Cars 3 — Get your Pixar fix with this fun animation — 6*/10

Good solid entertainment. Overall, touching, plus, even though the story was in a way very easy and safe for the creators, it still had a few surprises and many great details. Not the equal of the first one, but pretty interesting.

Owen Wilson, Chris Cooper and Nathan Fillion.

The Mummy — Good fantasy with nice action — 6*/10

Very interesting ideas, but with a bad start and a number of weaknesses in the last third of the movie. Mostly, though, it is nicely entertaining and interesting. Funny, but too serious to really connect with the original precursor series (read my review of the first chapter here).

Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella.

Wonder Woman — An inspiring super hero action flick for all — 8*/10

Amazing visuals, action and special effects. The story is very interesting even if it's not very complex. The part about rewriting Greek mythology is annoying, the bad guy is weak at best and they could have given her one of the more dressed-up version of her costume, but the rest, including the acting, is great.

Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales — Entertaining if nothing else — 6*/10

The 5th chapter. Atrocious intro and epilogue. The rest of the story is pretty good even though there are a number of easy or flawed things. Entertaining and with some good special effects. Beware, post credit scene.

Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Javier Bardem, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 — A great sci-fi epic — 8*/10

Solid fun full of action, mean special effects and great vistas. A few weaknesses, but overall very entertaining.

Keep on watching the credits. There are many clips throughout until the very end.

Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Michael Rooker, Pom Klementieff, Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone and Vin Diesel.

Power Rangers — It's only a teen sci-fi action flick, no more — 5*/10

I guess I was expecting too much and was disappointed. The reboot is not bad considering the comics weren't very good to start with. Nice action, nice ideas, just a bit overly simple.

Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3717490/

Kong: Skull Island — An amazing sci-fi full of spectacular action and great special effects — 9*/10

It blew my mind. I wasn't expecting much and I got a plateful of fun. Great intro and amazing fight scenes. Even though the story is rather simple, it is extremely well told. I might not have liked the evil monster, but the other ones were great. Nice imagination there.

Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John C. Reilly and John Goodman.

The LEGO Batman Movie — A fantastic parody animation — 7*/10

Funny and full of past Batman movie references that will greatly please fans. The story is a bit simple, but it's good entertainment.

Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson, Ralph Fiennes, Zach Galifianakis, Conan O'Brien, Zoë Kravitz, Kate Micucci, Eddie Izzard, Seth Green, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Hector Elizondo and Mariah Carey.

Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4116284/

The Space Between Us — A very nice semi sci-fi semi-romantic story — 7*/10

The relationship between the boy and the girl is very well done, but the rest is spotty at best and the science fiction a mere background, often faulty. It is easy to enjoy, and it's good light entertainment.

Asa Butterfield, Britt Robertson, Carla Gugino and Gary Oldman.

Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3922818/

Hunt for the Wilderpeople — Simple yet very surprising — 8*/10

This is about life, about defining family, about freedom, but all done in a very light yet realistic tone. Follow their adventure and all the surprises that come before during and after it. This movie's most compelling points are the fact that it takes unexpected turns and how it can still be fun even considering everything that's happening.

It's a must try, even if it's not a blockbuster. You'll probably love it.

Sam Neill and Rhys Darby.

Monster Trucks — Nice little sci-fi for the whole family — 6*/10

Funny, light, entertaining and better than expected. Still, it's a bit more for the children. I liked the creature design, but that pink stuff, really? Great ideas, just too young.

Danny Glover (small role).

Assassin's Creed — There's very little good to say about it — 5*/10

• Overall: Action, special effects, interesting ideas, but nothing else. It seems more like a setup for what follows than a real movie.
• Who is it for? Those who really feel like they should see it.
• Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2094766/
• Known actors: Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons and Michael Kenneth Williams.
• Cameos: Brendan Gleeson.
• Style: Action flick that can't really pick a style.
• Pacing: Crap.
• Intro: Interesting, probably the best part since the background idea is the best part of this flick.
• Story: It would have been much better if they had simply chosen a time period to tell the story in. As they did it, you don't get attached to anything and it feels like an intro to the next chapter.
• Ending: Not really an ending. Almost boring.
• Epilogue: They had to show it kept on going or else this movie would have been a complete waste of time.
• Dialogs: Weak, at best.
• Characters: Really, really simple.
• Acting: Solid. Probably one of its saving grace.
• Visuals: Solid.
• Special Effects: Perfect.
• Afterthoughts: I wasn't expecting much, but I was still disappointed.
