I guess I was expecting too much and was disappointed. The reboot is not bad considering the comics weren't very good to start with. Nice action, nice ideas, just a bit overly simple.

I've decided to simply go for a score without any review. Maybe I'll start again doing full reviews someday.

Before I Fall — This little flick is slick and has a lot of heart — 7*/10
The societal slice is just too high and the settings too slick, but it's very interesting and the just of it at the right place. Even if it's not really anything new, it's really nice to watch and let go.

Divergent — Another teen oriented movie — 6*/10
- Scenario: The story itself is interesting, even though the intrigue is minimal and the characters roughly sketched, simple. It lacks substance where it could have made a full meal. Everything was there for it, but the script contained logical flaws, the acting was below par, the action lousy, the hand to hand combat scenes lacked credibility and the conclusion was too quick, almost anti-climactic.
- Known actors: Kate Winslet, Ashley Judd, Jai Courtney, Zoë Kravitz and Miles Teller.
- Visual & sound: Good.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1840309/
- Who is it for? Teens and other lovers of such fan fiction or those in need of an apocalyptish sci-fi.
I didn't see when it came out on the big screen because I feared it would be just one more teen saga and I was right. I don't think it's worth spending money on this, unless you're the target audience.

How I Live Now — Very unusual teen romance with well developed backdrop — 8*/10
- Scenario: Great ideas, unexpected turns, and nice pacing. Some little teen romance thrown in with war front fear gives us a truly unique mix. The scenario is well split between before and after. It almost feels like two movies. The events are kept strictly from the point of view of the main female lead which makes it interesting because we're not dragged in the rest of the events and thus neatly avoid needing to elaborate or trying to compete with potential war scenarios.
- Dialogs: Solid and pretty realistic.
- Characters: Well built and easy to relate to.
- Actors: Good work on the part of everyone. Cast members include Saoirse Ronan.
- Photography: Well done with some especially beautiful scenes.
- Sound: Good music and score.
- Special effects: None.

Detention — Totally out of whack and full of references — 7*/10
- Story: It's difficult to understand anything in this freaky succession of barely related events. It's winks after winks to different horror movies riding a fine line between a goofy comedy and a parody.
- Characters: Simple and caricatural.
- Dialogs: Fast and funny.
- Scenario: It's more than a simple roller coaster, because it spins every which way until the plots really thickens. It doesn't make any sense before then.
- Actors: Nice silly work on the part of everyone. Cast members include Dane Cook.
- Photography: Acceptable.
- Sound: Nice music and score.
- Special effects: Good.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1701990/
- Who is it for? Those who want to see something totally crazy and don't mind violence and gore.

The DUFF — One of the better high school teen movie done recently — 7*/10
- Story: Even though it possesses all the trappings of a standard high school teen comedy, it does strive to bring a few new twists to the genre. It's nothing grossly surprising, but it shows the writers wanted to make it interesting. Nice ending. It's rosy, but well made.
- Characters: Simple and funny.
- Dialogs: Mostly funny and interesting.
- Scenario: Well built, nice pace with good switches in tone and speed.
- Actors: Acceptable work, if poor in a few rare cases. The notable cast members are Allison Janney, Ken Jeong and Romany Malco.
- Photography: Nice.
- Sound: Good music, nice score.
- Special effects: None.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1666801/
- Who is it for? If you need to see something very light, but still interesting, or you're a fan of teen flicks.

Pitch Perfect — Very light, silly and totally appreciable comedy — 7*/10
- Story: Light, silly and very entertaining comedy with a touch of romance.
- Characters: Interesting. Not a lot of depth and a bit stereotypical without too shallow.
- Dialogs: Funny.
- Scenario: Good pacing, keeps your attention. I would have removed the last kiss, but beyond that the end was well done.
- Actors: Overall nice performance. The notable cast members are Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson.
- Photography: Nice.
- Special effects: None.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1981677/
- Who is it for? Those looking for light entertainment and don't mind singing.

The First Time — A cute touching teen flick to put a smile on your face — 7*/10
The First Time is nicely witty and funny. As opposed to a lot of teen movies, this one can be appreciated by anyone. Strong, cutting dialogs with interesting characters, if a tad stereotypical. The story is simple, but well told and entertaining. It easily captures the attention of the audience. Overall: it's cute.
Anytime, especially when you need to smile.

A Birder's Guide to Everything — A simple tale of an ordinary teen — 6*/10
A Birder's Guide to Everything is nothing grand, but it is interesting in a simple way. There's a few laughs and a sprinkle of drama in this teen flick. There's nothing raunchy in its story, but there's a tiny flicker of romance. It's greatest attraction is that it is realistic, like a snapshot of an ordinary teen life.
Don't expect too much.

She's All That — Straight out of the mold for some light entertainment — 6*/10
She's All That is an easy teen romance. The usual trappings are all there, nicely made, but predictable. Beside that, it's real problem are a few filler scenes that aren't done that well. The end is slightly better.
For a brainless movie night.

The Maze Runner — Not a masterpiece but still some nice entertainment — 6*/10
The Maze Runner definitively doesn't bring anything new to the table, even the overall idea of the test is not new. However, there are a number of good points. The action scenes and the special effects are solid. The story is interesting with a captivating pacing and even a few nice twists. More over, beside a couple of hiccups, the acting is acceptable.
Just for the kick of it, but don't have any expectations.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist — A solid modern take on the teen comedy romance — 8*/10
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist is a great attempt at breaking the Hollywood mold for teen comedy romance. You have your standard heartsick underdog, beautiful ex-girlfriend, love-hate potential conquest, and happy ending, but the rest is pretty novel. It's very funny, with lots of great ideas, solid acting, and a scenario that doesn't follow the standard routine.
A treat for anyone not looking for action.

The To Do List — Be caught by the laughs then enjoy the sex positive vibe — 7*/10
The To Do List is a nice simple well made teen comedy. Like most of its kind, it's funny, very funny, but it's distinction comes from its juxtaposition of the usual judgemental American mentality with a newer sex positive view that we can only hope becomes the norm in the near future.
Enjoy.

Project X - Give it time and you'll be totally captivated - 9*/10
Project X starts lame, really lame. However, it very slowly picks up momentum until you get something surprising. Emotions are flying high, action is a continuous rolling thunder, acting is solid, scenes are completely engrossing, and you get many a surprise. The only real flaw is that all the chicks are super hot and really easy which ruins our suspension of disbelief.
I highly recommend you give it a try. It might not be your cup of tea, but you have to go at least 45 minutes into it.

Vampire Academy - Good idea with a very lame execution - 5*/10
Vampire Academy is a much better trailer than movie. It's barely television quality on all levels: story, scenario, dialogs, characters, acting, settings, and special effects. Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 2 is on par with this flick, never mind the following seasons.

LOL has very little content. The best moment of the movie wasn't even capitalized on. It's watchable, but not much more than that.

The Spectacular Now - Realistic, simple, touching piece of teen life - 8*/10
The Spectacular Now is like a teen movie set in real life with some drama presented simply, nothing overdone. It's difficult to really pin this piece down, but you'll laugh, you'll be touch by the drama yet won't be overwhelmed by it, you'll be drawn in by the sincerity as well as the good intentions, and you'll be immersed by the attention to details.

American Pie - Solid and funny teen point of view - 8*/10
American Pie was a revival of the teen genre. It threw away the jocks versus geeks theme for something more real, mainly how clueless and single minded we can be when we're adolescents. The focus is mainly on the guys' obsession about sex, but the finale, the last quarter of the flick, gives a much more sensitive, more touching and sweeter tone to the production. It's funny, with some exaggerations, but nothing over the top.
It's great entertainment, a solid teen perspective, and thoughtful.

The Bling Ring — Wild and different where misfits thrives — 10*/10
The Bling Ring is about the mistakes of youth. It's real and doesn't pander. It's a space where you can make your own mind. It's another genius movie by Sophia Copolla.
She plunges us into the subject and sets the mood right away to snare our attention. Great score and music for a vibrant lush captivating story.
A must for everyone, even guys.

The Kings of Summer — A simple story, but a meaningful one — 8*/10
The Kings of Summer is a tale of friendship and exploration of youth.
The good. Very interesting story. Sound characters. Well paced scenario, with nice story telling ploys. Great, yet simple, score. Beautiful photography. Solid choice in editing. Realistic dialogs and interactions. A number of funny scenes.
The actors. The boys are excellently played, but I have to tip my hat to Moises Arias for pulling off his hilarious and peculiar portrayal. You'll see what I mean. The parents are great too.
The bad. It is highly unlikely that three boys would have been able to build that house, as simple as it is, or get the material for it, but I guess this is where suspension of disbelief comes in. The end is just a tiny bit quick, but it's still well made.
The ugly. Nothing.
The result. A great tale, should be seen by everyone.
