- Overall: Turn your brain off and enjoy this fun ride. You won't be able to help yourself, you'll laugh.
- Who is it for? Anyone in the mood for some Holiday cheers.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1711525/
- Known actors: Jason Bateman, Olivia Munn, T.J. Miller, Jennifer Aniston, Rob Corddry, Vanessa Bayer and Abbey Lee.
- Story: Extremely simple, silly, wacky, crazy, oft time impossible, but always funny. There's some action, a lot of booze, many naked people and urinal jokes, literally.
- Ending: Of course, it's a Christmas story, so you can imagine.
- Dialogs: Witty, funny, stupid.
- Characters: Simple, but very funny. Lots of crazy people.
- Acting: This is where the movie shines, this is how all the silliness and craziness get sold, and how!
- Afterthoughts: Great entertainment, I absolutely had the best of time.
I've decided to simply go for a score without any review. Maybe I'll start again doing full reviews someday.

Office Christmas Party — The kind of crazy thing that's perfect to pick you up — 6*/10
jeudi 18 août 2016
Sausage Party — Absolutely delirious animated comedy — 6*/10
- Overall: Laughter inducing. Crazy. Foul language and dirty humor for all, all the time.
- Who is it for? Anyone looking for irreverent stuff, an extremely imaginative film or those who are simply high.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1700841/
- Known actors: Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Salma Hayek, Edward Norton, Paul Rudd, Bill Hader, David Krumholtz
- Cameos: James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson
- Setting: It's crazy and juvenile, but pushed to the next level, it's like taking everything that's juvenile and making a real world out of it.
- Style: Don't look for anything highbrow, it's all below the belt.
- Story: Full of action, laughter, and very stupid stuff. You need to turn your brain off to enjoy it, although, if you do so, you might miss some not so subtle pokes at society and world affairs. If you stop to think about what is actually happening in some of the scenes, it's hair-raising and totally ghoulish. However, since it's ridiculous from one end to another, it's impossible to take them that seriously.
- Ending: So funny. Mind-blowing. Completely out there and absurd.
- Epilogue: They went one better with the story arc. Not sure if I like it, it was already surreal enough as is, but I have to give them props for it.
- Dialogs: Extremely funny and totally irreverent. All the innuendos you can make about sausage and buns, well, they're doing them and then some, very explicitly. It's hilarious, mostly because you can't believe they just said that.
- Characters: Very simple.
- Acting: Simple.
- Visuals: Simple

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates — Just too juvenile a comedy — 5*/10
- Overall: Juvenile and exaggerated. You have to really turn your brain off to come close to appreciate this flick.
- Who is it for? No one, unless you're really high or brainless.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2823054/
- Known actors: Anna Kendrick, Zac Efron, Aubrey Plaza, Adam Devine and Stephen Root.
- Intro: No confusion, right to it.
- Story: Succeeding number of ridiculous events. Sometimes you lose yourself in it, but then Mike goes off a wire and you automatically tune out.
- Ending: Give me a break.
- Dialogs: Mostly crap. Sentences of the word deprived.
- Characters: Very superficial, you can barely see something resembling reality from time to time. The four main ones lack a full brain between themselves.
- Acting: They achieved what they were aiming for, so I have to salute them for it. Zac Efron and Anna Kendrick did really well and you remove the stupid antics of Adam Devine and you'd probably have something that's actually watchable and funny.

40 Days and 40 Nights — Pretty funny standard romantic comedy — 6*/10
- Overall: Everything about sex and relationship in there is bullshit, but the situations are pretty funny.
- Who is it for? Those who are used to the standard model of relationship and want to laugh.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0243736/
- Known actors: Josh Hartnett.
- Cameos: Stanley Anderson.
- Setting: Too hip, too posh, too many hot girls.
- Style: Romantic comedy with silly juvenile stuff and impossible situations.
- Intro: Nice. Really puts you into context.
- Story: In that stupid cookie cutter way, it all makes sense and is pretty interesting, because you're always wondering what's going to happen next and how it is going to end.
- Ending: Nice twist with a predictable final.
- Dialogs: Interesting. Witty at times. Easy.
- Characters: Shallow, but not too stereotypical.
- Acting: Good. Even great for the main ones.
- Visuals: Nice.

Deadpool — Fucking hilarious hero flick and powerful entertainment — 8*/10
- Story: A straight forward origin story with tons of wink to the hero genre. Lots of action and humour. I loved the rough rider romance until they got the bad news. Then, it changed too abruptly for my taste. More over, his investigation is just a series of repetition, although the change of costume is interesting. That being said, what's not to love about the rest?
- Style: Achronological with a humorous self-satirical narration by the main onscreen character directed straight at the viewer breaking the usual barrier between a movie and its audience. You gotta like the style, but even if you don't, it's funny as hell.
- Pacing: Fast with a few breaks that are still intense.
- Ending: Predictable, but the jokes helped.
- Dialogs: Extremely funny and very witty. Totally perfect.
- Characters: Simple, even as super heroes go.
- Acting: Great performance by the main characters. The others... meh.
- Known actors: Ryan Reynolds (excellent as the witty Deadpool), Morena Baccarin (she's just awesome!) and T.J. Miller.
- Special Effects: Not perfect, but still great.
- Music: Excellent choices, usually very funny ones.
- Score: Awesome, you're right in the action.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1431045/
- Entertainment value: Very, very high.
- Who is it for? Any one looking for action or fun and super hero fans.

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse — Funny but could have been better — 6*/10

- Known actors: David Koechner and Cloris Leachman.
- Visual & sound: Acceptable.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1727776/
- Who is it for? Those looking to turn their brains off for some fun or zombie fans.

Vacation — If you forgot your brain somewhere this might be for you — 5*/10
- Scenario: It's funny, but mainly in a juvenile and irreverent way. Simple story and characters with an average entertainment value.
- Known actors: Ed Helms, Christina Applegate and Norman Reedus.
- Visual & sound: Meh.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1524930/
- Who is it for? Those wanting a movie that doesn't require a brain.

Rapture-Palooza — Low budget goofy comedy for light entertainment — 6*/10
- Scenario: Crazy. The intro was particularly hilarious and the end was really funny with lots of goofy things in between. Even if the story itself was particularly light, the entertainment value was still there.
- Known actors: Anna Kendrick (she did what she could with what she had, but she has shown that she can be much better), Craig Robinson (they gave him a lot of crass things to say and it gets annoying after a while), Rob Corddry, Ana Gasteyer, John Michael Higgins (the little screen time he had was hilarious!), Thomas Lennon and Ken Jeong.
- Visual & sound: Very low budget and it showed a lot visually, even in the makeup.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1879032/
- Who is it for? Those looking for some end of the world goofy flick. Just don't take anything seriously or expect too much.

Ted 2 — A worthy funny sequel in need of a bit more content — 6*/10
- Scenario: The sequel to the hilarious first chapter (see my review here) is still funny, but it doesn't have as much content. It feels like the writers after dumping all their good ideas in the first one ran short here. Nonetheless, the entertainment value is great and worth the watch. Especially because all our favorite and most hated characters are back.
- Dialogs: Clever, fast and funny.
- Characters: More of the same, but with a few weird additions.
- Actors: Good work on the part of everyone, even if they can easily act much more complex roles. Cast members include Mark Wahlberg, Seth MacFarlane, Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Morgan Freeman who seemed a bit out of place, Sam J. Jones, Patrick Warburton, Michael Dorn, John Slattery, John Carroll Lynch, Ron Canada and Liam Neeson.
- Photography: Same.
- Sound: Same.
- Special effects: Same.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2637276/
- Who is it for? Wahlberg or MacFarlane fans, those in need of an easy comedy and don't mind the juvenile, as well as those who are curious to know what happens next.

Get Hard — Hilarious antics for some excellent enternainment — 6*/10
- Scenario: The story is pathetically simple, but that's not what this movie is about. It's about the antics of the two main characters. It's hilarious if juvenile. Excellent entertainment value.
- Dialogs: Very funny.
- Characters: Simple.
- Actors: It might not be one of Will Ferrell best performance, but it was good. I don't like Kevin Hart, but there's a few times where he impressed me, especially the courtyard scene. Other performance vary from poor to good.
- Photography: Nice.
- Sound: Good music and score.
- Special effects: Minimal.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2561572/
- Who is it for? Those looking for easy laughter and any fans of Ferrell or Hart.

Unfinished Business — You might like it, but don't get your hopes up — 6*/10
- Story: It walks a the fine line between pitiful and pathetic. It's full of good ideas, yet the result is poor. It's based on too many things that are just not true.
- Characters: There's barely any. I couldn't tolerate the role of the young guy, Mike Pancake.
- Dialogs: Probably the best part of the flick. Sometimes it's funny.
- Scenario: Acceptable. If you want to see breasts without watching a porno, this is the film for you, and they're nice too. You see what I mean about this movie?
- Actors: Acceptable work, but no more than that. Cast members include Vince Vaughn, James Marsden and Tom Wilkinson.
- Photography: Acceptable.
- Sound: Acceptable music and score.
- Special effects: None.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2358925/
- Who is it for? For diehard Vaughn fans or if you've got a few hours to waste.

The Interview — A disappointment half the way through — 5*/10
- Story: It starts as the crazy shit Seth Rogen is getting known for and it feels good. However, it gets lost half way through as if they ran out of interesting material. The rest feels like unsatisfying filling. I usually love what Rogen does, but this is very poor.
- Characters: The type you'd expect.
- Dialogs: Funny, but then it gets repetitive and uninventive once they're in North Korea.
- Scenario: Like I said, it unravels at the half mark.
- Actors: Seth Rogen is funny as usual, but James Franco out of it, either that or he was given bad directions.
- Photography: Meh.
- Special effects: Minimal effects.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2788710/
- Who is it for? If you're a hardcore Rogen or Franco fan and you've got time to waste or you're high out of your mind.

Bruce Almighty — Funny, even hilarious, if a little simple — 7*/10
- Story: The basic idea is very interesting. The finished product is funny, often hilarious. However, it's a bit easy and at times predictable. Je jokes are mostly juvenile.
- Characters: Easy to relate to, funny, if a bit stereotypical.
- Dialogs: Well done, most of the time very funny.
- Scenario: Good pacing, with a few obvious plot hooks.
- Actors: Jim Carrey is his funny self, just a hair from over-exaggeration; he was just starting to rein himself in. Jennifer Aniston is good as is Morgan Freeman, both of whom got simple roles for their talent. Mention for hilarity: Steve Carell.
- Photography: Well done.
- Special effects: Good, but getting old. Green screen technology wasn't as effective then as it is now.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0315327/
- Who is it for? If you're looking for something funny and light.

Ted — Feels like a television show that morphs into romantic comedy then action-thriller — 7*/10
- Story: Funny, all the way through. Keeps your attention on. The way the bear evolves and how the world treats him is perfect.
- Characters: Well built, if simple. The bear is, of course, a genius idea and extremely well implemented.
- Dialogs: Hilarious, if you like the Seth MacFarlane style. It's a lot of words, crass, simple and very direct.
- Scenario: Well paced, if a bit of a mash up between styles. Gives you a bit of everything, but mainly comedy. Mostly very juvenile humor. The romantic plot elements are straight out of the Hollywood standard mold, which makes it a bit disappointing.
- Actors: Not a stretch for Mark Wahlberg or Mila Kunis who can both play much more complex characters. Seth MacFarlane is equal to himself, very funny. Giovanni Ribisi brings out the big loony-bin guns for some very special moments. Kudos to Patrick Stewart, Norah Jones and Tom Skerritt.
- Photography: Nothing special.
- Special effects: The bear is very well animated. It might not age well, but I'm sure it won't look too much out of place in the future.
- Synopsis & information: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1637725/
- Who is it for? For those in need of some easy entertainment with a bit of everything, who don't mind crass humor, for stoner fans or MacFarlane fans.

22 Jump Street — It doesn't take itself seriously, so don't either and have a blast — 7*/10
22 Jump Street, the followup to 21 Jump Street, is just as much fun and as ridiculous. It can take a while to get used to the self-deprecating message trumpeted in the first 20 minutes, "it's the exact same thing", but after that, it flows well. Lots of silly juvenile stuff, slapstick jokes, impossibly embarrassing situations, action, and some solid comedic acting.
For some stupid fun.

Neighbors - A tough mix to pull off, but very funny - 6*/10
Neighbors doesn't sink too far into the juvenile and the awkwardness of the beginning does go away at some point. It doesn't take itself too seriously, yet it brings some really funny spins even if they're not new to Seth Rogen's style. There are a few excellent moments in there.
If you want to turn you brain off and have a good laugh without compromising your soul.

21 Jump Street - Kick ass fun all around, very surprisingly - 8*/10
21 Jump Street is great mix of parody, action, and teen absurdity. I think Channing Tatum really shines as a comedic actor because he's the kind of person everybody sees in a serious light, yet he doesn't take himself seriously. Difficult to imagine a better partner for such an amount of silliness than Jonah Hill. The result is surprisingly good, especially since nothing is taken seriously.
For silly fun.

A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas - What you would expect - 6*/10
A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas is on par with the others of the series. Better than the second, not as good as the first, but with all the silliness and Christmas trimming we expect. Just don't think you're going to watch something mature and you might enjoy it.
For the fans of the series and those enjoying juvenile or drug humor.

30 Minutes or Less - Simple but funny - 6*/10
30 Minutes or Less doesn't aim to be great, it just aim to entertain with a simple comedy routine, and succeeds. There's a lot of laughter, derived from very basic situations and dialogs, and lots of action. It's main strength comes from the twists and turns of the story that will pop right to the end. They're not big, but they do break the routine in a very nice way. Add to that some solid, if silly, acting, and it's easy entertainment. The weakness is in the intro, it makes you think you're heading right down a boring unsurprising flick with juvenile humor. Don't get me wrong, it's juvenile alright, but done well.
For entertainment only.

We're the Millers - They're fake and they're fun - 6*/10
We're the Millers is a silly comedy who just aims at making you laugh. It easily succeeds and even bring some interesting elements. The big plus, is that the best jokes aren't in the preview reel. It's not a block buster or a even a great movie, but it's not aiming for that and the result is a sound piece of entertainment.
For a good laugh.
