Aladdin — A classical animation that's hilarious — 8*/10

• Overall: The graphics date a little and it's purposefully riddled with anachronisms, but it's so funny and well done.
• Who is it for? Everyone. A must see. Children as well as adults who are not afraid of a little old-style animation and songs.

• Style: Old Disney. Unfortunately full of songs.
• Pacing: Great.
• Intro: Perfect. It totally draws you in with jokes and mystery.
• Story: Lots of very interesting development, action, laughter, plots and counter plots.
• Ending: Nice little twist how they finally trick him, but overall it's predictable.
• Dialogs: So fucking witty and funny.
• Characters: The genie and the bird are excellent. The others are rather simple, fitting their stereotypes.
• Acting: Beyond Belief for the genie and the bird. The others are good, if nothing extraordinary.
• Visuals: Beautiful, but their age is starting to show.
• Music: Solid, even if we could have done without the musical numbers. Truly catchy.

Bram Stoker's Dracula — The original story is still one of the best — 9*/10

• Story: The amazing director Francis Ford Coppola tried to stay close to Bram Stoker's original dark romance story that gave birth to Dracula, and the onscreen result is quite gripping. 
• Characters: Well done. The primary characters are strong, the secondary ones seem to have been done in a slightly caricatural manner, in an homage to the long line of Dracula movies, I think.
• Dialogs: Very novelistic.
• Scenario: Excellent. A great pace that keeps us riveted and our adrenaline up. It's full of action, romance and eroticism.
• Actors: I don't really like Gary Oldman in this role even if he did a good job, and I think that Keanu Reeves didn't serve us as good a performance as he could have, but the rest did very well. Cast members include Winona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins, Richard E. Grant, Tom Waits, and Monica Bellucci.
• Photography: Good.
• Sound: Great music and score. Entrancing.
• Special effects: Some purposefully chosen special effects give the production an old feel to it, like the miniatures and the very dark sets, an other sort of homage to its predecessors, I think. With those effects are mixed what used to be state of the art and are now aging, like the mists. The result is still quite enjoyable if you're looking at it from the right point of view.

Reservoir Dogs - A naked look at a robbery from the other side - 10*/10

Reservoir Dogs is the movie that put Quentin Tarantino on the map. The set-up and the story are simple, yet there's a nice intrigue, solid captivating dialogs, great unconventional camera work, and the acting is excellent. You get to see the other side of the story, the criminals in simple forms as well as what they face when setting out on job.

A must see, but sensible souls should abstain, there's a lot of blood and an stark torture scene.

Alien³ — Gritty, down and dirty fight to the finish — 8*/10

Alien³ is, to me, the unloved child of the Alien series. If not as good as the other two preceding it, David Fincher's attempt was a successful one nonetheless. It came full circle by going back to "weaponless" confrontation with the beast. I think that, combined with a revolting dirty low-tech environment, rebuffed most watchers.

The good. Imaginative environment. Tight scenario with many chills and thrills. Captivating story. Great photography. Excellent costume and dialogs. Simple and touching relation between Ripley and the doctor. Very interesting characters. Excellent cast.

The actors. Sigourney Weaver outdid herself with this evolution of her heroic persona, a truly great performance. Charles Dance seems to be the true complement to our female lead and played it to perfection. The whole lot of convicts and jailers was astonishingly good, I'll just give special mentions to Paul McGann, Christopher Fairbank, and Charles S. Dutton.

The bad. Unfortunately, the alien's CG effects are starting to show their age, and it can be distracting at time.

The ugly. The intro. It's not logical. There can be no eggs there. The queen had lost her egg producing sac. That's probably what turned off most hardcore Alien fans. It did me. It took me a while to go past that and see the quality of this film. Since this blatant mistake was the basis of the whole scenario, it left very few advocators.

The result. A great sci-fi thriller. Should be seen with an open mind if you like the first two installments of the franchise.

Unforgiven — A gritty, dirty, realistic western where abuse is repaired with money — 10*/10

Unforgiven is a gritty realistic western in which Clint Eastwood displays his incredible talent as a director and as an actor.

The photography is amazing. The story is captivating and touching. There are no excess, just what it takes to tell this sad tale to its fullest. The sets and costumes are dirty and plunge us into the far west in an instant. Each character is well developed, and rich. Each actor well assigned to his role. Any other choices would make for a totally different movie. Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman hit their mark just as perfectly as Eastwood.

It is a simple tale, but of epic meaning, where survival brings around conflicting morales. It is violent, but all the action is realistically portrayed without any excess of blood.

A must.

Encino Man — Teenagers with a cave man — 5*/10

Encino Man is your basic uncool high school kids want to be cool story, but with an unthawed cave man in the mix. Beside that last detail, the scenario is unimaginative at best.

Most aspect are rather lame. The logic is weak, the scientific facts are ignored, characters incredibly shallow, the acting is below par, and its age is starting to show.

It's barely entertaining, but if you have time to waste, maybe it could do the trick.
